Most attendees will want to fly into the Vancouver, British Columbia airport for their visit to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

Airport Shuttle
To assist with logistical planning and to provide a level of convenience we have not offered in many years, First Affirmative will be providing round-trip service for conference participants between the Vancouver airport and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.  We will provide a “Meet and Greet” service at the airport, and handle all transfer arrangements.  You should plan an extra 30 minutes to get through Customs.  More information will be available later in 2008.

Continental Airlines
When 20 or more passengers fly to Vancouver, British Columbia for the SRI in the Rockies conference, a discount is available depending on the price of your ticket. For further information, call your travel agent or Continental Airlines MeetingWorks at 800-468-7022 and provide "Z Code: ZDZC" and "Agreement Code: BFHW58". Travel agents must list the Z Code in the Ticket Designator Box and Tour Code Box on the ticket. There is a $15. service fee, per ticket. Valid travel dates: October 21 - November 1, 2008.

To avoid the service fee and gain an additional 3% discount, you may book online. Both Z code and Agreement code (without a space) need to be placed in the Offer Code Box as "ZDZCBFHW58".

Car Rental: 
It is a long drive from the Vancouver airport to Whistler, and it is a confusing route through the middle of downtown Vancouver (no freeways).  We highly recommend AGAINST renting a car.  Please see “Airport Shuttle” section above.

Whistler is a small town with limited parking.  Parking is provided for registered hotel guests at the rate of $25.00 (Cdn) per night.  Valet service is also available at a rate of $30.00 (Cdn) per night.

Attire for the conference is mountain casual (no ties!) In late October, we can expect cool, dry days and clear, crisp evenings. Most conference events will occur indoors, but you will want to be prepared to enjoy the clean, mountain air. Bring your swimsuit for use in the heated, outdoor pools and hot tubs, as well as shoes and clothing appropriate for your favorite outdoor recreation activities. We will be at about 2,000 feet of elevation, so make sure to bring sunscreen and wear it when outdoors during the day. We suggest that you give your body some time to acclimate to the altitude before drinking alcoholic beverages (at least a day or two). Headaches are a common occurrence among those new to the mountains and are generally due to dehydration, so drink lots of water.

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers over 28,000 square feet of indoor event space. Their facilities and staff have won multiple awards and offer extensive activities for attendees and their families. Their onsite experts will coordinate with SRI in the Rockies staff to meet audiovisual needs, create meals and address every detail of conference production.
